What is a passing chord?

A chord that leads you the chord you want to go to ex Emin F#o into G, the F#o is the passing chord. Passing chords are also very quick usually like a quarter or 8th note long.
If they were longer than a quarter note it's just a chord in the song you are playing.

A passing chord usuall connects two other chords.
If, for example, I was going from C to Aminor I could put a G chord with a B in the bass in between the C and the Am. The bass line would be a simple but effecive C, B, A whle the other notes of the G chord would also act as a transition or a bridge between the C and the Am.
